5 Ways to Reduce Heating Costs This Winter

With cold weather comes high heating expenses for many of our Dallas, TX customers. Save money this season with the following tips.

  1. Turn Down the Heat

When the cold weather hits here in Texas, it can send many of our customers running to their thermostats. However, setting your thermostat to a high temperature will not warm your home faster — but it will increase your energy costs. Instead, opt for some additional layers like a thick quilt or sweater when you relax in the evening.

  1. Utilize Natural Sunlight

If your home naturally gets a lot of sunlight, throw your blinds open and let the sunshine in! If you decide to utilize this natural heat source this winter, be sure to seal off any leaks around your home, such as in your windows or doors. This will prevent the money spent on your heating from going out of the window.

  1. Use LED Christmas Lights

When using energy-efficient bulbs, your home will still be merry and bright! Incandescent lights use a lot more electricity in comparison to newer, LED lightbulbs.

You may find that making the switch this holiday season helps decrease the money spent on your energy bill, leaving more money to take a trip or spoil your loved ones.

  1. Take Advantage of Smart Technology

You can add to your savings this season by adjusting your smart thermostat on your phone. This will allow you to set temperatures even when you’re not home, making sure your home is operating as efficiently as possible.

  1. Maintain Your HVAC Unit

If your heating and cooling unit is not functioning correctly, chances are a higher energy bill, and a repair will be in your near future. Rely on our experienced technicians at Rescue Air to check your unit for any clogs, broken pieces, or leaks. We’ll get you back up and running in no time!
